Inside the 94th Le Mans 24 Hours with Team Langoustine: The Full Story

By Mark Khoo

A fastest lap of 3:25.041 by Rio Hirakawa driving the #8 Toyota TR010 Hybrid. An outright and Hypercar class win of 381 laps for the #7 Toyota TR010 Hybrid of Mike Conway, Kamui Kobayashi and Nyck de Vries with the second placed #20 BMW M Team WRT M Hybrid V8 of Robin Frijns, René Rast and Sheldon van der Linde only 10.913 seconds behind.

In LMP2 it was a class win for the #43 Inter Europol Competition Oreca 07-Gibson of Jakub Smiechowski, Tom Dillmann and Nicholas Yellloly on 361 laps, whilst in LMGT3 it was a win for the #33 TF Sport Corvette Z06 LMGT3.R of Ben Keating, Jonny Edgar and Nicky Catsburg on 336 laps.

A record breaking 350,105 spectators attended, which was up from 2025’s previous record of 332,000 race goers. But also 700kg of meat, 250kg of potatoes, 250kg of onions, 40kg of fresh coffee, 4,000 tea bags and 700 naan breads.  Serving 720 motor racing fans at our private Premier campsite.

These are the numbers that matter to Team Langoustine at the 94th Edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans - the fifth event hosted by the current team.

And what a long weekend at the Circuit de la Sarthe 2026 turned out to be with air temperatures soaring to 29 degrees Celsius, nail biting race action and the introduction of the Genesis marque to the Hypercar class.

On the Hyundai Group train of thought, Mark will berate me for letting this slip but this year’s Langoustine t-shirt was almost a K-Pop Demon Prawn Hunters themed affair. But instead, we decided to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the famous Ford vs Ferrari battle and it was great seeing so many Langoustine customers sporting this year’s Carrol and Ken T-shirts, not only at camp, but around the circuit and at the Drivers’ Parade in the city centre too.

Electro vs Rock

Whilst some enjoyed Austrian electro-pop meister Robin Schulz at the circuit’s official stage near the Goodyear Bridge, the Team Langoustine camp was treated to its very own exclusive rock concert on Friday night by Langoustine regular Gareth Jones and friends of the Gareth Jones on Speed podcast www.garethjones.tv/onspeed.html (otherwise known as Gaz Top of Saturday morning Kids TV fame).

Food Glorious Food

The kitchen team hope you enjoyed this year’s catering with the return of firm favourites like chef Rob’s lasagne and our signature Saturday night Nepalese Tikka curry.

Judging by the quiet descending on the groups with their dinners and the licked clean plates, the new beef featherblade steak on Friday night was a hit with the meat eaters.

We can also report that our new midnight snacks service run by the tireless Shyam went down a treat with our nocturnal guests.

Not All Plain Sailing

Our campsite had a power cut on Sunday morning due a failure of the junction box outside the camp’s wall. But thanks to the unflappable team and the loan of a generator, the coffee machines were back in action after a short delay and a full breakfast service was delivered.  We do however apologise for the cold showers until mains power was restored by the city power people.

Later that day there was also a misunderstanding with circuit security who blocked both our exit gates (obviously that wasn’t in the plan). This temporarily inconvenienced some guests who wanted to make an early exit prior to the end of the race.

We will raise this with the ACO as we plan for 2027 and would like to thank everyone on our Premier campsite for their patience.

Smile…. You’re On TV

This year we shot footage for our first promotional video coming soon!

Team Langoustine also day hosted Ed Turner of Backroad Hero who travelled to the race with his son Max – watch out for his road trip content on his YouTube channel here: www.youtube.com/@Back_Road_Hero.

How did we do?

We hope that you had a great time at the 2026 Le Mans 24 Hour whether doing your own thing public camping or at our Premier Camping site. Please write us a review on Trustpilotas your feedback helps us improve our service year-on-year.  When the feedback is glowing, it can make for warm, fuzzy reading by our hardworking team once the dust has settled in July.

Thank you from Team Langoustine

Mark, Jim, Craig, chef Rob, Selma, Shyam, Ella and the rest of the Langoustine team would like to give a massive thank you to all our customers – returning, first timers, Premier Camping and Public Camping for helping make the 94th Edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans so memorable.

We will be doing it all again in a few weeks’ time at our little Tertre Rouge corner of the circuit for the Le Mans Classic ‘Legend’.

Keep an eye out on this blog for all the latest Team Langoustine news and ticket sales for 2027 coming soon.
